I don't know how many miles but its the east of England to the north east of Ireland

Most of the time I am terribly homesick, but this topic is making me feel a bit better

I've looked it up - 374.5 miles, which isn't too bad actually. It would be fab if I could drive it. It's just the sea in between that poses the main problem.

I'm from San Diego and my parents live a half hour away from SDSU, where I am, but I feel so sorry for folks from LA or the Bay Area.  I couldn't even imagine being 2 or, heaven forbid, 7 hours from my mom, I love her so much.

isnt it funny (in a sad not haha way) how that can strike completely without reason or indication its about to occur.

I havent lived at home since i was 17 (so 9 years now) and i have always lived at least 1000 miles from home in that time period, and i still will randomly get homesick.

for my parents, for the area, for my family in general (my moms extended family lives all over near where my parents live) etc.

Yes I fly. There are a few ferry ports but I'm nowhere near any of them, being on the east of England, so flying makes more sense.

Last Christmas, when the UK and Ireland were absolutely pounded by snow, my flight home was cancelled so I got a ferry then. It took me 28 hours door to door. Could have gone to Australia quicker.
