I'm kinda surprised there aren't many Ukrainians on here lol Anyways I'm of German, Ukrainian and Hungarian descent, first and middle names are Latin, and I think my last name is a fairly rare Hungarian name
Why aren't you surprised there aren't many Ukranians on here?
I guess because practically everyone in my community is Ukrainian, I'd expect to see at least a few Uks on here :\

There are a few, though not many. Is there a large Ukranian community in Saskachewan?
where I'm from in central saskatchewan, yes there are a fair amount, but in total 13% of the province is Ukrainian.. German being the most prominent ethnic origin, with about 29%

No, I'm not stalking you . But what does "My family didn't take the soup so my surname still has it's O'" mean? I've looked it up and can't find any reference to it.
Not stalking me? Riiiight. I'll explain though, in Ireland surnames such as Leary, Rourke, Sullivan, Crowley, Keefe, Brien, Donovan, Dywer, Dunphy etc should all have O' beforehand so.. O'Rourke, O' Ryan, O'Connor, O'Donnell, O'Ahern, O'Donoghue, O'Hurley for example. Most names when translated into Irish still have their O so Crowley would be O'Crulaoi and Brien would be O'Briain. The O means 'of' so it basically denotes what clan you came 'of'. For a surname like Burke or Barry they wouldn't have an O' cos they're Norman names. You can tell they're Norman cos in Irish Burke is De Burca and Barry is De Barra. The same applies to a Norman name such as Fitzgerald, Fitzpatrick, Fitzgibbon etc. You can tell a lot about someone family history and their origins from their surname. Craig, Butler, Cantwell, Wilson, Desmond would all be Anglo-Irish names, or 'Prod' names in origin. These names wouldn't of had an O to begin with. In Ireland most Irish people can automatically recognise what name is missing an O' or what name wouldn't have an O. Its a common joke/myth/'fact' that someone called Aoife Donoughue for example is missing their O', why? Because back in the famine the English ran soup kitchens and for those Catholics that dropped their O' and became Protestant they were given or as we would say, they 'took the soup'. Its mostly a joke here. The name would still translate into Irish with the O, or in a girls case with the Ni intact but in English it mysteriously vanished! Its mostly a joke here, when you meet someone with called Enda Kavanagh, you'd automatically think, 'hmm someone took the soup?'. Its a joke really.

I'm Russian, I suppose that's west Slavic ethnicity. Your name doesn't sound at all like it has russian origin. Even though you wrote it in Cyrillic. Roxanne is Persian origin and Lynn is old English origin. I'm just saying it doesnt really reflect your ethnicity.
