And actually most people in Trinidad are white due to colonization, then blacks follow after.

Sometimes it does sometimes not... but they're 40% of the population and blacks are 37.5. Not far behind. yea I didn't say it was an overwhelming majority but still it's a majority.... I'm just saying obviously enough not to assume trinidadians are black same with mauritians. http://www.indexmundi.com/mauritius/demographics_profile.html

I know but as far as the Caribbeans in general and Africa there is a huge black population. I can see why people would think you're black from first glance.

Usually I'm not on these forums at all, but every few months or so a post like this really gets my brain stimulated. Why do people assume that most folks from Africa and the Caribbean are black? Well most people in Africa and the Caribbean come from African descent so someone wouldn't be wrong in thinking that and you shouldn't get mad at them for that. But lets get into this indian thing: If you really want to get deep with it, a lot of Indians descend from Africans--this is ESPECIALLY true when you get into Southern India. Mauritus, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, The Andaman Islands, and all those little islands in the indian ocean all are home to African descended people in one way, shape, or form. If you research the indiginous people of the Andaman islands, you would see that they are remarkably black--you can't tip toe or find any way to excuse how black they are. Speaking of that, the word "black" gets us in trouble because when we think of someone as being black, automatically we create a mental image in our heads of a "classical African" looking person--as if by being black, you're supposed to look a certain way. But what people don't know is that "black" people are the most phenotypically diverse people on the PLANET because "black" people (or people of African Descent) are the original human beings. Now justherefornow1, I don't want to point fingers but I have to call falsehood out when I feel it. You seem like you want to run away from that African lineage you have, like you're so ashamed to be who you are that you want to separate yourself from African peoples and not consider yourself black. You seem like you're one of those people who would try to make up an ethnicity to classify yourself into just so you can escape the reality of being a person of African descent. I don't know you personally but thats the vibe I get from you and a lot of other people of color nowadays. We want to be everything else but who we are. I'm black in color yes genetically we're different from african people I think my family's closer to the australoid side though which you can call black but it's not genetically similar to other africans. I'm actually fine with black people it's just people confuse me for indian yet when I say I'm african american they get confused. But yea... I actually am dating a well sorta dating a black guy. Right now. My mom more identifies with black african americans. Though she loves her own race it's like her second race for her if she could be a second race that's what it would be....
